A 37-mile trail and greenway system running along both sides of the Allegheny, Mononghahela and Ohio Rivers, that connects downtown to adjacent city areas including Oakland, the North Shore, the South Side and the Strip District.

The Panhandle trail spans 29 miles from Collier Township through northern Washington County to the city of Weirton, which is the former Conrail line known as the Panhandle Railroad. This railroad network once connected Pittsburgh to Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis. Today this corridor is being converted into a multi-use, non-motorized, recreation and health trail that will eventually extend to Weirton, WV.
