Specialty Culinary Experiences

Here are some special opportunities to experience what's happening in Pittsburgh's fresh and fantastic culinary universe.

Created by Bigelow Grille Executive Chef Kevin Sousa, Alchemy is an ultramodern dining experience inspired by the 'molecular gastronomy' of famed Catalonian chef Ferran Adria, using freeze-drying, liquid nitrogen baths, and additives like xanthan gum and seaweed extract to create new textures and taste combinations.

You can also find information about other local food options like CSAs and farmers markets.

By buying fresh, locally-produced foods you are not only supporting the better health of you and your family or friends, you are also promoting:

    • A healthier planet through decreased dependence on the fossil fuels, chemicals, and packaging needed to mass produce and ship foods long distances.
    • A vibrant local economy through the support of local businesses.
    • The continued survival of the family farm and an honest and worthy means of making a living.
