• Allegheny General Hospital/West Penn

  West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) is comprised of two tertiary and four community hospitals. Offering a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, the hospitals serve Pittsburgh and the surrounding five-state area, house more than 2,000 beds and employ more than 13,000 people. Together, the WPAHS hospitals admit more than 80,000 patients each year, log in excess of 173,000 emergency visits and deliver nearly 6,000 newborns. Combined, the hospitals are among the leaders in percentages of total surgeries, cardiac surgeries, neurosurgeries and cardiac catheterization procedures performed throughout the region.

• Mercy Hospital

  The Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, a member of Catholic Health East and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, is an extension of the Catholic health care ministry to all people in the tri-state region. Mercy Hospital's mandate is to promote a healthier community through a continuum of health care services, professional and community education, and research. Catholic Health East is a multi-institutional health care system, committed to the healing ministry of the Catholic church. Founded in 1998, Catholic Health East is sponsored by 14 religious congregations with facilities located in 10 states from Maine to Florida. Catholic Health East is one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health care systems.

• St. Clair Hospital

  St. Clair Hospital is an independent community hospital providing comprehensive, high quality care to the residents of Southwestern Pennsylvania. The hospital’s main campus is located just outside of downtown Pittsburgh in the South Hills.

UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) Hospitals

• Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh

  Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is the only hospital in western Pennsylvania devoted solely to the care of infants, children and young adults. The hospital has been named consistently to several elite lists of pediatric health care facilities, including ranking eighth among children’s hospitals (FY 2003) in funding provided by the National Institutes of Health. The hospital also is renowned for cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, critical care medicine, diabetes, hematology/oncology, neurosurgery, organ and tissue transplantation, orthopaedics, otolaryngology (ENT) and pediatric surgery. Children’s Hospital is also the only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center in western Pennsylvania and one of only three in the state.

• Eye + Ear Institute

  UPMC Eye Center, the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, has one of the top basic and clinical research programs in the country. Ranked 12th last year in National Eye Institute funding, UPMC Eye Center’s research focuses on ocular immunology, infectious disease, molecular genetics and molecular biology of retinal disease, glaucoma, and advanced diagnostic imaging technology development. Ophthalmology Times has ranked the UPMC Eye Center among the top 10 ophthalmology programs in the United States in the delivery of patient care.

  University Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists, also known as the Department of Otolaryngology, includes Board-certified physicians, fellows, and residents, as well as speech language pathologists and audiologists. The physicians in the practice provide the entire range of otolaryngology services to patients throughout the region as well as the world, and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top 10 Ear, Nose, and Throat specialists by U.S. News & World Report

• Magee-Womens Hospital

  Magee-Womens Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is a full-service women's hospital and is one of only five not-for-profit hospitals in the United States dedicated to the care of women throughout all stages of life. Magee serves as the teaching facility for obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, and neonatology for the University of Pittsburgh. Members of the hospital's medical staff hold academic appointments at the university and are actively involved in education and research, as well as patient care.

• Montefiore

  UPMC Montefiore is a member of the UPMC Presbyterian family of hospitals. Centers, offices, and services housed at UPMC Montefiore include the Comprehensive Lung Center; UPMC Senior Care – Benedum Geriatric Center; Facial Nerve Center; Magee Comprehensive Breast Evaluation Center; Ambulatory Surgery Center; General Internal Medicine physician offices; medical and surgical inpatient units; and transplantation, including the Starzl Transplantation Institute.

• Presbyterian

  UPMC Presbyterian, located in the heart of Oakland, is an adult medical/surgical referral hospital and a site of ongoing research and graduate programs in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The hospital is a renowned center for organ transplantation, and a recognized leader in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, critical care medicine and trauma services, and neurosurgery. UPMC Presbyterian also is designated as a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center. Founded in 1893, UPMC Presbyterian continues to provide state-of-the-art medical care to patients in the tri-state area and throughout the world.

• Shadyside

  UPMC Shadyside is a 486-bed tertiary care hospital that has been serving the residents of Pittsburgh and the tristate area since 1866. UPMC Shadyside offers primary medical care; physician and nursing education; and a broad range of specialties that include cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, geriatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular medicine, endocrinology, and more. UPMC Shadyside's medical staff includes more than 600 primary care physicians and specialists, many of whom have offices at the hospital and throughout the community.

• Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic

  Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) is a national leader in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of mental health and addictive disorders. As part of UPMC, WPIC provides a comprehensive range of behavioral health services available today, and is also shaping tomorrow’s behavioral health care through clinical innovation, research, and education. Considered one of the nation’s foremost university-based psychiatric care facilities, WPIC houses the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

  In order to expand its mission of providing patients and their families with state-of-the-art quality care, UPMC and WPIC developed the Behavioral Health network, which includes the psychiatric services of the hospitals of UPMC as well as UPMC’s regional behavioral health affiliates and associates. By establishing and expanding the Behavioral Health network, WPIC is able to extend the expertise and commitment of its services to people throughout the western Pennsylvania region.
